Dr. Grey is an earth and atmospheric scientist with 20 years of professional experience. His focus the past 15 years has been in the prevention of environmental pollution and contamination. His work has been as a service provider and consultant to cities, agencies, academia, and private industry. Dr. Grey is a recognized expert in the areas of biosolids and composting facilities, operations, and pollution prevention.

Dr. Grey conducts in-depth examinations of the physical, chemical, and biological properties of municipal and industrial wastes. He uses operational and experimental data and combines this with modeling techniques to predict and measure the fate and mobility of a wide range of inorganic and organic chemicals and biological organisms that are applied to the land or disposed. Work performed by Dr. Grey integrates fate and mobility of chemicals, surface water hydrology, and vadose zone transport of chemicals and microorganisms.

His emphasis the past six years has been on the characterization and prevention of pollution migrating from municipal and industrial wastes including inorganic pollutants, chlorinated pesticides and PCBs, volatile and semi-volatile organics, pathogenic organisms, and pharmaceuticals and personal care products. He has also conducted examinations of organic solvents, hydrocarbons, and flame retardants. Dr. Grey has conducted atmospheric analysis at industrial processing facilities focusing on volatile organics, Nx, Sx, and particulates. His work and results have been published in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings and presented nationwide.

The regulatory setting Dr. Grey works in is extensive and covers a broad spectrum of Federal, state and local regulations and guidelines including the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA-CERCLA, NPDES, CFR 258 and 503, CCR Titles 14, 22, and 27, and a host of California SWRCQB specific and general water quality orders.
